Is work intensification bad for employees? A review of outcomes for employees over the last two decades

Work intensification (WI) is a notable job stressor, which has been hypothesised to result in various negative outcomes for employees. However, earlier empirical studies regarding this stressor hypothesis have not yet reviewed. Our narrative review focused on the employees of WI as perceived stressor. was based selected qualitative and quantitative (k = 44) published peer-reviewed journals between years 2000 2020. Altogether, findings these showed that related employees, such impaired well-being motivation, supporting hypothesis. Stressful manifested accelerated pace work increased effort demands effectivity at work. Nevertheless, other manifestations (e.g. learning) were always associated with outcomes. The implications are discussed together future directions.
